Debbie Taylor's soulful, unapologetic voice exudes excitement. These nine tracks are from Taylor's stint with Today Records in 1972; she previously cut for Decca and GWP Records where she recorded solo and with the Hesitations. Taylor's smoldering vocal grabs you on Patrick Adams and David Jordan's "No If's and's or But's," also done by Black Ivory. Adams and Maurice Irby divvy the productions. Irby's "Second to None" stirs the emotions, but he tops it with the enchanting, heart-melting "Eye Doctor" that Taylor delivers first class. "No Deposit, No Return," is the sole misfire, the 1972 single's melody and lyrics are as predictable as utility bills. Despite overall excellence, nothing happened for Taylor at Today Records. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
